Ads that question the existence of God will appear on the side of buses in Kelowna next week. Guy King is a member of the organisation that's paying for them. He says the Okanagan's Centre for Inquiry isn't looking to pick a fight with 'believers.' "Hopefully, they'll come to some of our meetings and question us on why we think that some of the religious views are not appropriate to modern times," says King. He insists the campaign is all about generating discussion, especially in an area like the Okanagan, where there is a sizeable religious community. "It is a religious area so its a most appropriate place to have the ads," says King, "anywhere is appropriate because as someone has said to me once, 'the Bible Belt extends all the way from Alaska to Tierra Del Fuego," he says. The ads read:
"There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life."
The ads will appear on 2 Kelowna Transit buses starting next week, there's also a similar campaign going in Kamloops. The ads will be in place for a total of 4 weeks.
