A 19 year old woman has lost her driver's licence for 90 days after crashing into a light pole late last night.

On February 21st, 2012 at 11:45pm, the Kelowna RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision on Highway 97 in front of Dilworth Centre, 2339 Highway 97 North. The woman, who witnesses observed driving, appeared to be in shock and took off on foot. She returned in short order to speak with police, who noticed signs of impairment. The driver was read a roadside demand for breath samples but then failed to blow. She was issued a violation ticket for Driving Without Due Care and Possessing Open Liquor in a Motor Vehicle. She also received a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition from driving. The woman was taken to the hospital by the BC Ambulance Service for minor injuries.

If you are planning on drinking, please do not drive. By finding an alternative way home such as transit, cabs, or a designated driver you can help ensure that you, and people sharing the road with you, get to their destination safely.
