Wednesday, July 11, 2012 - 10:37 AM UBC's Okanagan campus hosts Canada’s premier undergraduate math conference Who: The Canadian Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (CUMC) Where: UBC's Okanagan campus When: July 11 to 15 The Canadian Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (CUMC) is being held at UBC's Okanagan campus and Okanagan College from July 11 to 15. The CUMC is the largest event of its kind in North America. It will bring more than 140 students from across the country to showcase undergraduate research in mathematics-related fields. The conference gives undergraduate students a chance to learn more about mathematics and mathematics research beyond what is available in the normal classroom setting. Over the course of the conference students will be given the opportunity to present on a mathematical topic of their choice. A number of keynote speakers will give conference talks, including mathematics professorsHeinz Bauschke and Donovan Hare, from UBC's Okanagan campus. Other highlights includethe Women in Math and Science Dinner and a tour of Ex Nihilo Vineyards.
