Kelowna, BC

On August 6 2012 at 1957hrs. the West Kelowna were requested to attend a hit and run at Beach Avenue and Todd Road in Peachland, BC. A lone male occupant, later determined to be from Alberta and vacationing in the Kelowna area, had apparently been driving his Audi Q7 (Alberta BCM7793) at a high rate of speed through Peachland while impaired. Witnesses reported that he collided with several vehicles before trying to flee on foot.

It was miraculous no one injured as a result of this incident.

The 35 year old Calgary man was apprehended by several passerby's and held for police. The man was brought to the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment for breath samples where he admitted to consuming a large quantity of alcohol prior to the crash. Initially indicating that he would provide samples, the man later refused when it came time to blow. He was held in Kelowna cells until sober and released on a Promise to Appear for Court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident who has not been spoken to by the police, please call Cst Kent Hall of the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
