The 30th anniversary of Pushor Mitchell Kelowna Apple Triathlon and to celebrate, the City of Kelowna has since proclaimed the week leading up to the weekends events as “Apple Triathlon Week”

The 30th anniversary, 2012 also coincides with the passing of Jennifer Hindle, wife of event founder, John Hindle. Jennifer has been a dedicated advocate, volunteer and supporter to this event over the past 30 years even after the loss of her husband John, and will be sorely missed by all who met her.

In memory of Jennifer Hindle KATS has created a memorial award in her honor. This memorial award is a perfect match for a similar award created in recognition of John Hindle, which is awarded each year to the fastest .

The Kelowna Apple Triathlon brings elite athletes from all over the world and shines a spotlight on our amazing community. Kelowna also produces world class athletes that compete on the world stage.

This year Brent McMahon , an Elite Triathlete, who was born in Kelowna, BC, is going to represent Canada in the triathlon at the 2012 Olympics in London England. Brent is a past Elite Champion of the Kelowna Pushor Mitchell Apple Triathlon and all of us in Kelowna will be cheering him on.”

Also representing Canada will be Kelowna’s very own William Dean, who has qualified for the London Olympics in the Men’s Rowing 4.William is the son of Blake Dean and Joanne Ritchie. Joanne is a past World Champion Triathlete from Kelowna BC.We are all pulling for William to be an Olympic champion.
