Fatal Collision on Highway 97 Near Vernon, BC

On July 17th, 2012 at approximately 630 pm RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 north of Vernon BC.

Emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatal vehicle / motorcycle accident on Hwy 97 nearStickle Rd.  The driver and lone occupant of the motorcycle was rushed by ambulance to Vernon JubileeHospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  

The driver of the motorcycle, a 33 year old Alberta male was entering Hwy 97 northbound from Stickle Rd.  The motorcycle had lost control, the driver was ejected and contact was made with a northbound pickup truck pulling an RV. 

Road conditions were good at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing by North Okanagan Traffic Services, an RCMP accident reconstructionist will be examining the scene later today to help determine cause.  Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicles prior to the crash, to contact Vernon / North Okanagan Detachment @ 250-545-7171.
